sustainability internships

Every semester, our intern team brings a range of backgrounds, perspectives and skills to the Office of Sustainability. The team plays a key role in advancing campus sustainability efforts through project support, outreach, and engagement.

sustainability internships

We would not be able to do everything we do at the Office of Sustainability without the help of our dedicated interns!

Their contributions help drive meaningful change by promoting sustainable practices and connecting the UF community with important initiatives and resources.

Typically, applications open for new Sustainable UF interns in advance of the start of each academic term, if hiring. Application information will be posted on this page when there is an opening, but we suggest following the Office of Sustainability social media accounts and newsletter to receive updates on internship openings.

other sustainability internships & opportunities

Internships provide students with valuable hands-on experience, professional skills, and networking opportunities that enhance their career readiness and academic learning.

In addition to opportunities with the Office of Sustainability, we encourage students to consider sustainability-related internships at UF and/or throughout Gainesville. With a creative and open mind, there are countless sustainability internships available in the UF/Gainesville area.

Internships organized by the Bob Graham Center help students gain practical, real-world experience in government and political settings before graduating. The Center also provides research opportunities and summits for faculty and students.

The Field & Fork Program offers internships every semester for UF undergraduate students looking for work experience, college credit, or the chance to explore the practical and applied components of our food system.

Interns have the opportunity to network with community organizations and industry partners, to work in the field learning all aspects of producing food for the Alan and Cathy Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry on campus, and to be part of a diverse team working to learn and grow together.

Gator CareerLink (GCL) is the portal to everything career at UF, hosted by the Career Connections Center. GCL provides access to information about internships, co-ops, job shadowing, part and full-time job opportunities. This free service is a great place to search for sustainability internships and opportunities!

TRiP Leaders lead outdoor adventure trips for the University of Florida, managing groups of up to 10 people while doing activities such as surfing, backpacking, and canoeing. Learn skills to guide others in the wilderness, develop unique leadership styles. Students will gain competence in group management, risk management, and technical outdoor skills.

UF TESI’s Environmental Leaders Network provides a student-accessible database and email newsletter featuring environmentally focused volunteering opportunities, jobs, internships, seminars, professional development workshops, and more. They also organize network social events to help foster connections between students, environmental professionals, mentors, and experts.

University committee groups fall into one of two categories: Joint Committees or Presidential Committees. Committees advise the administration on important issues. Some committees related to sustainability are Sustainability Committee, Undergraduate Advising Council, Food Service Advisory Committee, Environmental Health & Safety Committee, and the Disaster Plan Committee.

If you are a student interested in being considered for an appointment to a university committee, please complete the online committee application. Students eligible to serve on university committees will be selected from this pool of applicants beginning each Fall Semester.
