Welcome to the One Less Car Challenge

In meeting the challenge, we are asking you to pledge to commute by an alternative to single-occupancy vehicle travel on One Less Car Day, Friday, October 23, and as often as possible throughout the fall semester.

Individual participants can sign up and choose a team by following the link below. Once you are registered, you will have our new and easy-to-use online tool to track your progress.

You will also be eligible for great prizes, and will receive a button indicating the mode of transportation you have pledged to take, which can be worn year round.

In addition to individual commitments, each department or organization on campus can sign up to pledge as a team. Teams will be able to track their collective commitment online, and will also be eligible for prizes. If you do not see your department represented when you sign-up, please consider being the captain for your group.

One Less Car Celebration

Friday, October 23, 11 AM - 1PM, Reitz Union North Lawn

Gators looking for ways to both reduce their impact on the environment and save some cash, are in luck! Using alternative transportation saves money and reduces your impact on the planet, whether it be walking, biking, taking a bus, or carpooling.

The Office of Sustainability is asking Gators to reduce their impact and pledge to take alternative transportation to campus on Friday, October 23, One Less Car Day and throughout the fall semester. On Friday, 10/23, interactive activities and prize drawings will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM on the Reitz Union North Lawn.

In the One Less Car challenge, students, staff, and faculty join departmental teams and log both their commutes and the means of transportation they used. The campaign runs until Friday, November 20, and participants are encouraged to “refer a friend” to earn extra points for their teams. The most active individuals and teams can win prizes throughout the competition, including gift certificates to local restaurants and Gator prize packs.
