TailGator Gameday Recycling Program Internship
The Office of Sustainability is seeking two students for paid internships supporting the TailGator Gameday Recycling Program for the 2019 UF Gators Football Regular Season. Since 2006, the TailGator Program has been encouraging waste reduction and proper recycling behaviors on home game days through education and face-to-face interaction with tailgating fans on campus.
Preferred candidates should possess:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience recruiting, organizing and managing volunteers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of campus recycling efforts
- Enthusiasm for spreading awareness around sustainability, waste reduction and recycling
- Excellent organizational skills
Interns will work with Office of Sustainability’s TailGator coordinator to improve and expand the existing program for the 2019 football season. Interns will be responsible for recruiting and communicating with volunteers, training and managing volunteers on home game days, tracking volunteer participation, and ensuring an exceptional experience for the tailgating fans served by the program.
Once established, successful candidates will also be expected to provide training to new interns joining the program in the future. Interns will be expected to commit an average of ten hours per week to their position with the Office of Sustainability. The internship will run through the end of the Fall 2019 semester with an option to renew through the Fall 2019 semester.
